Can I film in the Library for a school project?

Answer

The Library welcomes student filmmakers conducting course-related filming in the library.

Students may request permission to film in the library by completing this form.

Commercial filming requests should be submitted to Andrew Lanza, Administrative Events Manager, at alanza@brooklyn.cuny.edu.

Filming Guidelines

  • Quiet on the set: Keep set-noise to a minimum so students can enjoy a quiet study atmosphere.

  • Privacy: Respect the rights of others not to be photographed/filmed without their express permission.

Location Guidelines

  • Filming is limited to public areas of the Library. However, the Reading Rooms (Kimmich Room on the 1st floor, LaGuardia Room on the 2nd floor, and the Library Science Room on the 3rd floor) are not available for filming.

  • Filming must not restrict access to areas of the library or block free passage of library users.
