How do I use JSTOR's new Research Tool with AI?
JSTOR has developed a new Research Tool that combines AI and semantic search to provide enhanced search results and summaries of individual articles. To use the new Tool, you must create and be logged into a personal JSTOR account.
To create a personal account, first log in to JSTOR through the library on the database list or at this link: JSTOR CSI Library access. Then click the "Register" button on the upper right of the page (next to the red "Log In" button). Enter your CSI email and follow the instructions.
When you are logged in and you run a regular search, you should see a tab called "Experimental Beta" on your results page. This tab will give you results that are based on "natural language searching." This feature allows you to search with phrases rather than just keywords.
When you are looking at an article, you can toggle the tool on or off on the right hand side of the page. The tool will try to guess what parts of the article relate to your search. It will also try to summarize the article. You MUST confirm what it says by reading the article itself. Use keyword full text searching to find passages that relate to your query. Combining AI and traditional searching will get you the best results!
